4th of July in Fairlee, VT

Riley could've been in the parade but wasn't into this year. I got to run around like this with his scooter. I had a blast. I'm not sure if Riley did.

On the porch at the Sanctuary House in Sharon, VT

What a luxury a porch is when you live in the city. We really miss having that ability to just meander out the door and just hang. And Riley and David are hanging here on our beautiful hammock that was a wedding gift from our friend Jen Chase.

Riley and his cousin Irene

Mt. Tom in Woodstock, VT. Irene is 5, Riley is 3. Is this adorable or what?

Riley kayaking!

What a difference between last summer when Riley was 2 and this summer with a three year old! He's paddling in the kayak, he hiked up Mt. Cardigan (90%) and he would just wander out the door, shoes abandoned and amuse himself. I was not worried, though still had my eye out.

Daddy and Riley rock out in VT

David plays his "Baby Taylor" and Riley (in rare moment of being allowed) picks up Mommy's ukulele.

Riley at the south cabin with Daddy

David's grandfather and great grandfather built the south cabin at Dobsis (Lake Sysladobsis) in the 30s. So now that Riley is born into this incredible family legacry, everything up there takes on greater meaning. The pack basket he's wearing (along with binoculors ready for solo adventure) has been in the family for generations.

The first post

Let's get things rolling here.
Inspired by brother #4 Gregory to start a blog about "our family" which I still think we'll do, I, as mother, couldn't move forward without doing a blog about, well, our family, that is, the little man Ri and Mommy and Daddy.
With a few minutes to myself as Riley is being watched and I'm not at work, while I recover from brain surgery, I mean, an appendectomy (though I am quite dizzy and nauseous) this is an appropriate time to get started.
Also inspired by cousin Narayan's blog, I must say, the three month old shnooker doodle on the left coast.
I hope I can figure out how to upload da photos.

(who would be open to a papaya if someone knocked on my door and offered it. Of course, it would have to be organic and in a smoothie.)
